#13 seed Wayne State swept #12 seed Erskine College of South Carolina 3-0 Saturday morning to close out pool play at the AVCA Small College Beach Volleyball Championships in Tavares, Florida. The Wildcats improve to 8-5 with the win while the Fleet drop to 17-18.
Two of the three matches went extra points and the other Wildcat win went all three sets as the WSC #3 pairing of
Brooke Peltz and
Ella Myler rallied for a 17-21, 21-17, 15-12 victory over Erskine's Anna Haselden and Sarilyne Walley.
The #1 duo of
Taya Beller and
Allie Petry held off Erskine's Sam Bebber and Elly Davis for a 21-12, 24-22 win while the Wildcat #4 team of
Brooklyn Kusler and
Molly Romano defeated Paige Knotts and Kayley Preston from Erskine by scores of 22-20, 21-14.
Wayne State is now scheduled to face Emmanuel University of Georgia Saturday afternoon at 12:25 p.m. in a challenge match to determine seeding for bracket play on Sunday.
