#8 seed Spring Hill College of Alabama edged #13 seed Wayne State 3-2 Sunday morning in the bronze bracket semi-finals at the AVCA Small College Beach Volleyball Championships in Tavares, Florida. The Badgers are now 17-16 on the season while WSC slips to 9-6.
The Wildcats collected wins in the #2 and 5's pairings as
Jordan McCormick and
Channatee Robles won the 2's match 21-14, 21-16 over Spring Hill's Linnea Berger and Ally Lane while the 5's duo of
Taylor Bunjer and
Rhianna Wilhelm earned a 21-11, 21-12 victory over Lillie Casey and Airyonna Weaver from Spring Hill.
Spring Hill's three wins came in the 1, 3 and 4's matches, all in straight sets.
Taya Beller and
Allie Petry were defeated 21-14, 21-16 in the #1 pairing.
Brooke Peltz and
Ella Myler lost 21-15, 21-12 in the 3's match with
Brooklyn Kusler and
Molly Romano falling 21-17, 21-12 in the 4's pairing.
Wayne State faces either Florida Southern or Eckerd (Fla.) Sunday afternoon in the bronze bracket consolation match to conclude play at the AVCA Small College Beach Volleyball Championships.
