The Wayne State College beach volleyball team closed the 2024 season on an up-note Sunday afternoon as the 13
th-seeded Wildcats defeated #11 seed Eckerd College of Florida 3-0 in the third-place match of the bronze bracket at the AVCA Small College Beach Volleyball Championships in Tavares, Florida. The 'Cats ended the three-day tournament at 3-3 and finished the 2024 season with a 10-6 record while the Tritons end the season at 8-20.
All three Wildcat victories came in sweeps. The 4's pairing of
Brooklyn Kusler and
Molly Romano posted a 21-16, 21-8 win over Eckerd's Jocelyn Escoffery and Mariana Olivares-Cely. The #5 duo of
Taylor Bunjer and
Rhianna Wilhelm had a 21-10, 21-14 win over Melana Moore and Faith Smith from Eckerd while the 2's teams of
Jordan McCormick and
Channatee Robles captured a 21-19, 21-13 victory vs. Eckerd's Brooke Hand and Jessi Meghreblian.
