Reilly Young earned All-NSIC honors with a third-place finish in the discus Saturday to lead the Wayne State women on the final day of the 2024 Northern Sun Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Mankato, Minnesota. As a team, WSC finished 10
th place with 28.5 points.
Minnesota State was the repeat champion in the women's division with 252 points, well ahead of second-place University of Mary with 125 points. Sioux Falls came in third at 98.5 followed by Augustana (85) and Minnesota Duluth (43) in the top five. Concordia-St. Paul was sixth with 40.5 points, just ahead of Northern State at 38 points. Bemidji State (37), Winona State (36) and WSC (28.5) closed out the top 10 team.
Young was the lone Wildcat to score points on Saturday as she picked up a third-place finish in the discus at 151' 6".
Wayne State had one other All-NSIC performer as junior
Hailey Baker had a second-place finish Friday in the hammer throw Friday with a top mark of 177' 6".
Three other Wildcats placed in the hammer throw as sophomore
Olivia Schwarzrock came in fifth place at 163' 11" followed by
Reilly Young in seventh (159' 6") and
McKenna Markle in eighth at 159' 5".
The Wildcats had two medal winners in the shot put as Ponca junior
Brooke Languis placed sixth with a top heave of 42' 4 ¼" while Wayne freshman
Brooklyn Kruse took seventh at 42' 2 ¼".
Sophomore
Anna Coffee closed out the Wildcat scoring finishing tied for sixth in the heptathlon scoring 4,827 points.
