Four Wildcats selected to CSC Academic All-District Men's Track and Field Team

            Four members of the Wayne State College men's track and field team were named Tuesday morning to the 2024 Academic All-District Team selected by College Sports Communicators.  Senior Gabe Peitz and juniors Alex Brandt and Logan Moeller were all repeat selections while senior Debonaire Williams also collected Academic All-District Team honors.  Moeller, Peitz and Williams also advanced to the Academic All-American ballot with All-America Teams to be announced Wednesday, July 10th.
            The CSC Academic All-America program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the track, in the field and in the classroom.  Eligible nominees must maintain a minimum 3.50 grade point average and post a performance in the top 50 in his/her event in the Central Region.
            Brandt, a junior from Grand Island (Northwest HS), recorded a 3.94 grade point average this year majoring in business/finance and mathematics.  He placed fourth in the heptathlon during the NSIC Indoor Championships with a career-best 4,676 points and was ranked in the top 50 in the javelin during the outdoor season with a top mark of 164' 2".
            Moeller, a junior from Pierce (Pierce HS), accounted for a 3.56 grade point average majoring in construction management.  He earned All-NSIC honors with a third-place finish in the long jump at the NSIC Outdoor Championships (24' 5"), which was ranked 12th in the Central Region, and just missed another medal taking ninth in the triple jump.  Moeller was seventh in the long jump at the NSIC Indoor Championships at 22' 11 ¼". 
            Peitz, a senior from Wakefield (Wakefield HS), maintained a 3.97 grade point average majoring in pre-med/chemistry.  He was ninth in the 800-meter run at the NSIC Outdoor Championships and was 11th during the NSIC Indoor Championships in the same event.  Peitz earned the NSIC Elite 18 Award for men's outdoor track and field and was the NSIC Elite 18 Award winner in cross country last year as a junior.
            Williams, a senior from Lafayette, Louisiana (Garden City CC), had a 3.72 grade point average majoring in drama and theatre.  He finished fourth in the decathlon at the NSIC Outdoor Championships scoring 6,091 points, ranking 15th in the Central Region.  Williams was All-NSIC during the indoor season placing third in the heptathlon with 4,730 points.
