Wayne State closed a successful spring break beach volleyball trip to Arizona Tuesday afternoon with a 4-1 victory over Benedictine Mesa of Arizona at Gene Autry Park in Mesa. The 'Cats went 7-1 on their Arizona trip and improved to 9-2 overall while Benedictine Mesa is now 3-7.
Two of the six matches went all three sets. The Wildcat exhibition duo of
Laney Kathol and Anna Borrner won 21-18, 14-21, 15-11 while the Wildcat #1 pairing of
Ava Spies and
Taylor Bunjer suffered a 12-21, 21-19, 10-15 loss.
All other matches resulted in sweeps for Wayne State as the 2s team of
Chloe Hanel and
Channatee Robles won 21-10, 21-12. The #3 pairing of
Brooklyn Kusler and
Molly Romano won in straight sets 21-7, 21-12, the 4s team of
Reese Johnson and
Ella Myler captured a 21-10, 21-17 win while the 5s duo of
Brooke Peltz and
Rhianna Wilhelm picked up a 21-15, 21-16 victory for the Wildcats.
Wayne State's next action is Tuesday, March 18th when the Wildcats travel to Kansas for the Ottawa Triangular battling Park (Mo.) at 1 p.m. and the host Ottawa Braves in a 3 p.m. contest.
