The Wayne State beach volleyball team opened their Arizona spring break trip Saturday afternoon with a 3-2 victory over NAIA #1 ranked Ottawa (Ariz.) at Victory Lane Sports Complex in Glendale, Arizona. The Wildcats move to 3-1 while the Spirit are now 6-2.
The Wildcats picked up wins in the 2, 3 and 4 pairings to post the victory. #4 pairing
Reese Johnson and
Ella Myler rallied for a 14-21, 21-18, 15-11 win.
Wayne State's other two wins came in sweeps as the #2 duo of
Chloe Hanel and
Channatee Robles edged Ottawa's Amey Rainaud and Eliana Dean 21-17, 21-18 while the Wildcats' #3 pairing of
Brooklyn Kusler and
Molly Romano picked up a 21-18, 21-15 win.
Wayne State will face NAIA #4 ranked Arizona Christian in another match Saturday afternoon at Victory Lane Sports Complex in Glendale, Arizona.
