The Wayne State College men's track and field team set three new school records Saturday afternoon at the South Dakota Challenge held in Vermillion.
Stanton freshman
Mitchell Hupp posted a new school record in the 200-meter dash with a winning time of 20.89 seconds, bettering the previous school mark of 20.99 second set by freshman
Emmanuel Badejo in late March at the Wildcat Classic. Hupp also finished third in the 100m race with his time of 10.43.
Badejo broke the school record in the 400-meter dash crossing the line first in a time of 46.71 seconds. The old school record was set back in 1959 by Fred Kjer with a time of 48.36 seconds.
The final school record broken on Saturday was the men's 4 x 100 relay quartet of
Luke Klabenes, Hupp,
Wyatt Nissen and Badejo who took first place with a time of 40.78 seconds, topping the previous school record of 41.43 set in the 2015 season by Kole Heller, Braxton Adams, William Ernst and Derek Lahm.
All three new school records were NCAA provisional marks along with
Wyatt Nissen's time of 21.09 seconds in the 200-meter dash, good for third place in the event.
