Wayne State College saw their 2025 beach volleyball season end Saturday morning with a 3-0 setback to Eckerd College of Florida in the single elimination Silver Bracket at the AVCA Small College Beach Championships in Gulf Shores, Florida. The 'Cats end the season at 14-6 while the #10 seed Eckerd moves on with an 8-23 record.
The 5's pairing of
Brooke Peltz and
Rhianna Wilhelm went extra points in the first set before falling 23-21 followed by a 21-15 loss in the second set.
Wayne State's #1 duo of
Taylor Bunjer and
Ava Spies were defeated by scores of 21-15, 21-14 while the 3's team of
Brooklyn Kusler and
Molly Romano fell in straight sets 21-11, 21-9.
Wayne State ended the 2025 beach season tied for the most wins in a season at 14-6, matching the 2022 squad. For the first time in five years, the 'Cats won a match in pool play at the AVCA Small College Beach Championships and advanced to the Silver bracket for the first time ever finishing in a tie for fifth in the Silver bracket and finished tied for 11
th overall out of 18 teams in the tournament.
