Ninete wins weight throw at Mount Marty Invite

            Junior Jaxson Ninete took first-place in the weight throw to lead the Wayne State College men's indoor track and field team Saturday at the Mount Marty Invitational held in Yankton, South Dakota at the Ruth Donohue Fieldhouse.  WSC was one of eight teams competing in the meet along with Briar Cliff, Dakota State, Dordt, Iowa Central Community College, Morningside, Mount Marty and Northwestern.
            Ninete led a group of Wildcat throwers that took four of the top seven spots in the weight throw, posting a winning mark of 57' 9 ½".  Jake Peitz was fourth at 52' 4" followed by seniors Alex Altman and Joshua Olesen in sixth and seventh respectively at 48' 9" and 48' 8". 
            Senior Alex Leuenberger had the lone second-place finish in the 400-meter dash at 50.56 seconds.
            Third-place finishers were freshman Tragon Timm in the 60-meter dash (7.09), Osman Saeed in the 200-meter dash at 22.73 seconds and Brady Franzen in the 5,000-meter run at 16:03.71. 
            Freshman Lucas Frazier was fourth in the one-mile run in a time of 4:34.47, William Keller took fourth in the 3,000-meter run (9:06.92) and Gannon Walsh was fourth in the 1,000-meters at 2:46.97. 
            Luke Klabenes was sixth in the 60-meter dash finals in 7.21 seconds, Keaton Bowker took sixth in the 600-meter run at 1:29.19, Jake Peitz was seventh in the shot put (45' 10 1/2") and Mitchell Rudie was eighth in the 400-meter dash at 52.99 seconds.
            The Wildcat men's 4 x 400-meter relay team of Leuenberger, Austin Madsen, Mitchell Rudie and Saeed came in fourth place at 3:27.85.
            Wayne State will compete at home next Saturday (January 24th) hosting the NCAA Showdown on Ron Holt Track in the Wildcat Dome with field events starting at 12 p.m. and running events starting at 2 p.m.
