Schwarzrock wins weight throw with NCAA provisional mark at NCAA Showdown

             Wayne State senior thrower Olivia Schwarzrock captured first-place in the weight throw with an NCAA provisional mark Saturday to lead the Wildcat indoor women's track and field team at the NCAA Showdown held at Ron Holt Track in the Wildcat Dome.  The meet attracted teams from Augustana, Black Hills State, Chadron State, Nebraska-Kearney, Sioux Falls, Southwest Minnesota State and Wayne State.
            A senior from Gibbon, Minnesota, Schwarzrock posted a winning mark of 58' 2 ½" in the weight throw to reach an NCAA provisional mark and the second-best throw in the NSIC this season.  She also captured a third-place finish in the shot put at 42' 8 ¼".
            Wayne State had one other event win coming from sophomore Reagan Murphy crossing the line first in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles in 9.05 seconds.
            Sophomore Jalecia Williams was second in the shot put (44' 1 ½") and was seventh in the weight throw (51' 3").
            Junior Kailee Kellum came in second in the long jump (18' 1 ½") and was fifth in the triple jump at 34' 3".
            Other second-place finishers for the Wildcats were freshman Breylee Botts in the 60-meter hurdles (9.10), Zoey Holmes in the 600-meter run (1:39.30), Lindsey Kneifl taking second in the triple jump (36' 5 ½") and Anna Coffee clearing 5' 3 ¾" in the high jump.
            Freshman Carly Busch collected a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash (26.16) and was sixth in the 60-meter dash finals in 8.06 seconds.
            Other Wildcat third-place finishers were Kaitlyn Bloomenrader in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:41.81, Jerika Bakenhus in the high jump (5' 3 ¾") and freshman Ava Leinen in the long jump with a mark of 17' 9 ½". 
            Fourth-place efforts came from freshman JoLie Farr in the 60-meter dash (7.95), Kyla Krusemark in the 800-meter run at 2:19.96 and Taylor Arp in the weight throw (52' 7 ½").
            Other top-eight Wildcat finishers included Alyssa Folds sixth in the 200-meter dash (26.66), Jayrn Wareckja seventh in the 60-meter hurdles (9.62), Meghan Cunningham eighth in the 800-meter run (2:23.18) and freshman Ella Van Dyke eighth in the high jump clearing 4' 11 ¾". 
            The Wayne State 4 x 400-meter relay team of Murphy, Holmes, Bloomenrader and Busch took first-place in a time of 3:57.64.
            The Wildcats travel to Mankato, Minnesota next weekend for the Mark Schuck Open hosted Minnesota State Friday and Saturday.
