Wayne State posted four event wins, led by junior high jumper
Cain Brown's NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 6' 11 ½" in the high jump
Devon Schultz's 15' 9 ¼" in the pole vault, at the Concordia Invite held Saturday at Bulldog Fieldhouse in Seward.
Brown captured first place in the high jump with his winning mark of 6' 11 ½", which now ranks as the second-best jump in the NSIC this season and is tied for 13
th in NCAA Division II. It also tied the WSC indoor high jump school record held by Dylan Kneifl on February 18, 2023.
Junior
Devon Schultz recorded an event win in the pole vault clearing 15' 9 ¼", an NCAA provisional qualifying mark. Other event wins came from junior sprinter Osman Saaed in the 400-meter dash in 50.04 seconds and freshman
Bryce Larsen was first place in the triple jump with a top mark of 47' 6 ½".
Junior
Elliott Nottlemann had a pair of second-place finishes in the high jump (6' 6 ¼") and in the long jump at 22' 10 ½". Saeed also had a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 22.45 seconds while
Mujeeb Adewuyi had a second-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.24 seconds.
Other top finishers included
Tragon Timm third in the 60-meter dash (7.04),
Bryce Faimon fourth in the long jump (22' 5"),
J'Dyn Bullion fourth in the weight throw at 57' 3 ¾" and
Luke Klabenes fifth in the 60-meter dash in 7.06 seconds.
Wayne State competes again Friday afternoon and evening in Brookings, South Dakota at the SDSU Last Chance Invite.
