Borngrebe, Marth named to NFCA Division II Player of the Year Watchlist

            Wayne State softball players Kennadi Borngrebe and Emilee Marth have been named to the 2026 NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) Division II Player and Pitcher of the Year Watchlist announced Wednesday afternoon by the coaches association office in Louisville, Kentucky.  The list is compiled by elected members of the NFCA Division II All-American Committee.
            Borngrebe, a 5-7 redshirt sophomore pitcher from Omaha (Elkhorn South HS), leads the Wildcat pitching staff with a 10-3 record and a 1.29 ERA this season.  She has thrown 92.1 innings and has given up just 50 hits and 19 runs (17 earned) with 117 strikeouts and 53 walks.  Borngrebe has nine complete games in 16 appearances and 13 starts with four shutouts, ranking second in the NSIC in strikeouts and opponent batting average (.159), third in ERA, tied for fourth in fewest runs allowed, tied for sixth in wins and eighth in innings pitched.
            Borngrebe was named NSIC Pitcher of the Week the opening week of the season (February 10th) and also ranks second on the team in batting at .375 with two homers, 17 RBI and 27 hits with 21 runs scored.
            Marth, a 5-7 junior outfielder from Nebraska City (Nebraska City HS), leads Wayne State in most offensive categories this season with a .442 batting average recording team-highs in hits (42), RBI (34) and total bases (66).  She has reached base safely in 28 consecutive games and has a team-high 10 multi-hit contests.  Marth was named NSIC Softball Player of the Week March 16th after hitting .583 in four games during the Florida spring break trip.
            So far this season, Marth ranks first in the NSIC in on-base percentage (.543), second in RBI, third in batting average, tied for fourth in hits and tied for seventh in slugging percentage.
            Wayne State is 26-6 on the season and 6-2 in the NSIC.  This weekend's home games vs. St. Cloud State and Concordia-St. Paul have been moved indoors to the Wildcat Dome due to weather and will now be played Friday at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. vs. St. Cloud State and Saturday at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. vs. Concordia-St. Paul.
