Wayne State College suffered a 3-0 loss to Pool B top-seeded Concordia Irvine Friday afternoon in the second match of pool play for the Wildcats at the AVCA Small College Beach Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The Golden Eagles are now 14-17 on the year with WSC slipping to 10-6.
The 3s pairing of
Reese Johnson and
Mattie Kamery were defeated 21-13, 21-12 by Rosie Cline and Aliyah Moore of Concordia Irvine. In the 5s result Wayne State's
Mia Berg and
Delaney Miller lost 21-12 and 21-10 to Emma Hugeback and Jayda Tupea from CUI while the #1 duo of
Anna Borner and
Taylor Bunjer fell 21-12, 21-9 to Olivia Medina and Gabrielle Reinking from Concordia Irvine.
Wayne State has two more pool play matches on Saturday at the AVCA Small College Beach Championships facing Eckerd College of Florida at 11:15 a.m. and Southwest Baptist (Mo.) at 3:35 p.m. in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
