Wayne State College fell to Carson-Newman (Tenn.) 3-0 Friday morning in the opening pool play match for the Wildcats at the AVCA Small College Beach Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama.  The Eagles from Carson-Newman improve to 30-2 with the win while the Wildcats drop to 10-5 on the season.
            The #2 pairing of Channatee Robles and Chloe Hanel fell to Carson-Newman's Emerson Ahsmuhs and Ava Potts 21-15, 21-18.  The Wildcat 5s duo of Mia Berg and Delaney Miller suffered a 21-15, 21-15 defeat to Kelcey Peterson and Madison Trondle while the 4s team of Ella Myler and Molly Romano were defeated 21-9, 21-12.
            Wayne State continues pool play later Friday afternoon battling Pool C top-seed Concordia Irvine of California in a 2:30 p.m. match.
