Wayne State College capped pool play late Saturday afternoon at the AVCA Small College Beach Volleyball Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama with a 3-0 win over Southwest Baptist.  The Wildcats move to 11-7 with the victory while Southwest Baptist drops to 4-22.
            The Wildcats picked up three sweeps in the 2, 3 and 4 pairings to earn the win.  Channatee Robles and Chloe Hanel recorded an easy 21-10, 21-5 win over Maya Keller and Bre Perez from Southwest Baptist in the 2s match.  Reese Johnson and Mattie Kamery had a 21-11, 21-11 win in the 3's pairing over Abbey Garner and Reagan Hoerning of the Bearcats and the 4s duo of Ella Myler and Molly Romano claimed a 21-10, 21-16 win against Southwest Baptist's Rory Stanley and Sara Younkin. 
            In the pairs challenge, Wayne State's Kaelyn Andersen and Jolee Ryan split their two matches in pool play.  The duo lost their first contest to Park (Mo.) Serena Arrudal and Julia Mattos 21-18, 14-21, 10-15 while winning against Colorado Mesa's Bella Friess and Eva Stewart 23-21, 21-17.
            Wayne State will be in bracket play Sunday morning to close out the third day at the AVCA Small College Beach Championships starting with a 9 a.m. match against Erskine College.
