The Wayne State College women's golf team is in fourth place after the opening day of the 2026 Northern Sun Conference Women's Golf Championships held in Blue Springs, Missouri at the Adams Pointe Golf Course. The Wildcats shot an opening day score of 311 and sit just four shots out of the lead.
Minnesota Crookston is the team leader after the first round with a 307, one shot ahead of second place Minnesota State and Sioux Falls (308) with the Wildcats right behind in fourth at 311.
Concordia-St. Paul is fifth at 315 with Winona State sixth with 320 and Augustana next at 321. Rounding out the top 10 teams are Southwest Minnesota State (341), Jamestown (347) and University of Mary at 350.
Sophomore
Gaia Stancikova led the Wildcats in the opening round firing a two-over-par 74 and is second place overall in a field of 64 players. She had three birdies in her opening 18 holes.
Senior
Saffire Sayre and junior
Erica Lee both posted rounds of six-over par 78 and are tied for 12
th overall with each player posting one birdie in their round.
Junior
Hailey Kenkel and sophomore
Camryn Johnson both produced scores of +9 81 and are tied for 26
th overall. Johnson had two birdies in her opening round while Kenkel posted her lone birdie of the day on the 18
th hole to close her round.
The second round of the NSIC Women's Golf Championship will take place Thursday in Blue Springs, Missouri with the three-day, 54-hole event wrapping up on Friday.
