Sophomore thrower
McKinley Grover posted a fifth-place finish in the discus while the sprint medley relay team set a new school record for the Wayne State women's track and field team competing at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
           Grover, a sophomore from Gordon (Gordon-Rushville HS), recorded a top mark of 153' 3" to finish fifth in the discus while
Torrance Tso was 10
th at 144' 5".Â
           Friday evening, the sprint medley relay team of
Alyssa Folds,
Zoey Holmes,
Kaitlyn Bloomenrader and
Meghan Cunningham set a new school record with a time of 4:16.90 to place 12
th in the event. The old school record of 4:21.93 was set in the 1999 season by Aisha Todd, Jennifer Olson, Darr Nickerson and Marsha Krienke.
           Saturday morning, the distance medley relay team of
Sydney Escritt,
Jonnicia Williams,
Kyla Krusemark and
Callie Kirchner took ninth in a time of 12:29.45, missing the school record by just over two seconds.
           Wayne State will compete a pair of meets next week as some members will travel to Mankato, Minnesota Wednesday for the Maverick Open #1 meet while the rest of the team heads to Vermillion Friday and Saturday for the South Dakota Challenge.Â
