Wayne State College sophomore throwers
McKinley Grover and
Samuel Zazueta earned All-Region honors announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Wednesday afternoon. To qualify an individual has to place in the top five of his/her event.
Grover, a graduate of Gordon-Rushville HS, had the third-best mark in the Central Region in the discus this spring thanks to a top mark of 170' 7" at the Mount Marty Twilight Meet in Yankton April 22
nd.
Zazueta, a graduate of Norfolk HS, was fourth in the Central Region in the hammer throw after a top mark of 204' 9" at the Tim Marshall Open in Mankato, Minnesota May 2
nd.
Both athletes have qualified for next week's NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Emporia, Kansas with Zazueta competing Thursday, May 21
st at 12:30 p.m. and Grover throwing Friday, May 22
nd at 4:30 p.m.
