Box Score #3 Concordia-St. Paul 3 #11 Wayne State 1 #3 Concordia-St. Paul rallied for a 17-25, 27-25, 28-26 and 25-16 win over #11 Wayne State College in Northern Sun Conference volleyball played Saturday afternoon at the Gangelhoff Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. The host Golden Bears move to 11-3 and 6-1 in league play with WSC now 12-3 and 5-2 in the NSIC.
The Wildcats opened the match strong, taking the first set 25-17 as WSC had just one attack error in the first set while forcing the Golden Bears into eight and a .116 attack percentage.
The second set saw 10 ties and four lead changes. With the score tied at 22, CU used a kill and Wildcat ball handling error to reach set point. The 'Cats responded to even the score at 24 with a
Katie Hughes kill and
Alyssa Frauendorfer service ace. Tied at 25, Concordia-St. Paul got back to back kills to win the set 27-25.
Both teams hit outstanding in the second set as WSC had 20 kills with just three attack errors and a .327 percentage while Concordia-St. Paul hit .465 with 22 kills and two errors in 43 attempts.
Wayne State led most of the third set and had set point at 24-21, but the Golden Bears fought off three set points and tied the score at 24 and knocked off the Wildcats 28-26.
The Wildcats never led in the fourth set as Concordia-St. Paul took advantage of their close wins in the second and third sets to finish off WSC 25-16.
Concordia-St. Paul hit .307 in the match compared to .222 for Wayne State. CU had 10 more kills than the Wildcats, 68-58, and held a 97-73 advantage in digs over the Wildcats. Concordia-St. Paul also had six blocks to four by Wayne State. WSC did enjoy an 11-6 edge in service aces on the Golden Bears.

Katie Hughes had 15 kills and 17 digs for her eighth double-double of the season while also recording two of Wayne State's four blocks. Junior middle hitter
