Senior centerfielder Lexie Loos went 7 for 7 with two intentional walks and three runs scored to lead Wayne State College in a 3-2 (8 innings) and 6-3 sweep over Bemidji State in Northern Sun Conference softball played Sunday afternoon at the Pete Chapman Softball Complex in Wayne.  With the two wins, Wayne State moved into second place in the NSIC at 14-4 in league play and 19-18 on the season while Bemidji State dropped to 21-15 and 4-9 in the NSIC.
The first game saw the Wildcats rally with two runs in the seventh and then score the game-winning run in the eighth for a 3-2 win.
Bemidji State's Lyndsey Peterson belted a two-run homer in the third for a 2-0 lead and that was all the scoring until the Wildcat bottom of the seventh.
Melanie Alyea doubled to left center with pinch runner Jalyn Zeiss scoring on a Sam O'Brien single up the middle for the first run.  O'Brien scored the tying run on Alyssa Schropp's doubled to right center to send the game into extra innings.
WSC got out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the eighth to prevent Bemidji State from re-gaining the lead.
The 'Cats then won the game in the bottom of the eighth as Caitlin Fehringer doubled to right center.  Loos was intentionally walked and Katelyn Wobken had an infield single down the third base line to load the bases.  Freshman Emily Chandler then hit a hard grounder to a drawn-in infield at shortstop that allowed Fehringer to score the game-winner.
Wayne State had 14 hits in the opener, led by Loos going 4 for 4 with a double.  O'Brien was 3 for 4 followed by Alyea going 2 for 4 including a double.
Cassy Miller picked up the pitching win for the Wildcats, now 13-13 on the year.  She allowed five hits and two runs in 6 2/3 innings of work with four strikeouts and two walks.
The second game saw Loos go 3 for 3 with three runs scored while WSC pulled away late with two runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth for a 6-3 win over the Beavers.
Loos tripled to open the game and scored on Chandler's double to tie the score at 1-1.
WSC took the lead for good in the fifth as Loos singled and scored on a Beaver error followed by an O'Brien RBI single that brought home Chandler for a 3-1 lead.
A three run sixth put WSC in front 6-1 with Katelyn Wobken's two-run single the big hit in the inning.
Bemidji State closed the scoring with two runs in the top of the seventh for a 6-3 win.
BSU held an 11-9 edge in hits over the Wildcats.  Loos was 3 for 3 with a triple, an intentional walk and three runs scored.  Chandler doubled while Katelyn Wobken, O'Brien, Fehringer, Schropp and Morgan Hoeg each singled.
