SDSU Last Chance Invite Final Results
Brock Hegarty and
Cade Kalkowski had the top finishes for the Wayne State men's indoor track and field team Saturday at South Dakota State Last Chance Invite in Brookings, South Dakota at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex. The Wildcats finished fifth as a team with 46.5 points.
South Dakota scored 184.5 points for the top spot followed by South Dakota State with 129. Augustana (85), Northern State (81) and Wayne State (46.5) closed out the top five teams. Other team scoring had Sioux Falls with 24.5, Drake 16, Southwest Minnesota State 13.5 and Concordia-St. Paul 7.
Brock Hegarty had the top Wildcat finish, taking second in the 1,000 meter run at 2:32.94.
Bryce Holcomb came in third in the 600 meter run (1:24.82) while
Cade Kalkowski was third in the weight throw at 67' ¾".
Freshman Gabe Peitz was third in the 1,000 meter run (2:42.12) and
Dylan Kneifl tied for third in the high jump clearing 6' 6 ¾" while
Mikhail Sands took fourth in the long jump (22' 1 ¾").
Other scorers for the Wildcats were
Ben Allen sixth in the shot put (51' 10 ½"),
Cole Christoffersen seventh in the weight throw (61' 4 ¼"),
Cody Crosley seventh in the long jump (21' 4"),
Noah Carr eighth in the 200 meter dash (22.68) and
Collin Kotz eighth in the 3,000 meter run (9:34.17).
Wayne State will compete in the NSIC Indoor Championships in Mankato, Minnesota on Thursday, Friday and Saturday February 25-27.
