Wayne State College placed ninth out of 15 teams Saturday morning at the Northern Sun Conference Women's Cross Country Championships held in Bismarck, North Dakota at McDowell Dam.
Kylie Pachta was the top Wildcat finisher taking 58
th overall with a time of 23:01.
Winona State topped two-time defending champion Augustana for the team title 38-57 with host University of Mary third at 84 points. Minnesota State (113) and Sioux Falls (117) rounded out the top five teams. Minnesota Duluth was sixth with 132 points followed by Minot State (231), Northern State (251), Wayne State ninth at 281 and Bemidji State 10
th with 286 points. MSU Moorhead (295), Minnesota Crookston (362), Southwest Minnesota State (363), St. Cloud State (369) and Concordia-St. Paul (425) closed out the team standings.
Pachta, a senior from Thayer Central HS, was the first Wildcat runner to cross the finish line taking 58
th overall out of a field of 144 runners with a time of 23:01 on the 6,000-meter course. York senior
Lindsey Stuckey was next in 64
th at 23:19.0 while Yankton, S.D. senior
Brooke Solomon took 66
th at 23:19.5. Senior
Kelsey Larsen – 71
st at 23:22 – and freshman
Callie Kirchner, who was 87
th in a time of 23:57, rounded out the top five Wildcat runners.
