Final Results 2023 NSIC Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships
The Wayne State College men's indoor track and field team posted a fourth place finish with 57 points at the 2023 Northern Sun Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships held at Myers Fieldhouse in Mankato, Minnesota Saturday and Sunday. The Wildcats ended the two-day meet with two All-NSIC finishers.
Minnesota State captured the team title cumulating 232 points for its 12
th consecutive team title with Augustana second at 96 and MSU Moorhead third with 86 points. Wayne State was next in fourth at 57 points followed by UMary with 49 points, just ahead of Minnesota Duluth's 48 points.
Concordia-St. Paul took seventh with 47 points with Northern State eighth (45) and Sioux Falls ninth (42). Closing out the team standings were Minot State (29), Southwest Minnesota State (5) and Upper Iowa (4).
The Wildcats had one All-NSIC performer Saturday as junior
Dylan Kneifl collected a second place finish in the high jump clearing 6' 9 ½". The other All-NSIC finisher for Wayne State was
Debonaire Williams in the heptathlon, scoring 4,719 points, an NCAA provisional mark, to post a third place finish.
Pierce sophomore
Logan Moeller broke his own school record in the long jump, taking fifth at 24' ¾" to just pass his previous mark of 23' 11 ¾" set January 21 in Seward. It was also an NCAA provisional mark for Moeller.
Braden Johnson also placed in the long jump taking eighth with a mark of 22' 11 ¾".
Sophomore
Alex Brandt scored points in two events, just missing All-NSIC honors in both. He was fourth in the high jump at 6' 4 ¾" and recorded a fifth place finish in the heptathlon scoring 4,671 points.
Senior
Grant Fritsch hit an NCAA provisional mark and took fourth in the weight throw at 59' 7" while freshman
Daylin Mallory won an eighth place medal in the shot put at 50' 3 ½".
Wayne junior
Cody Rogers placed fourth in the triple jump at 46' 7 ½" while
Logan Moeller finished in seventh at 45' 9 ¼".
Wakefield junior Gabe Peitz collected a fifth place medal in the finals of the 600-meters in a time of 1:23.40.
Brandon Mundorf scored points in two events, taking seventh in the 1,000-meter run at 2:32.83 and was eighth in the one mile run with a time of 4:18.91.
Other Wildcat medal winners included
Jarrett McQueen placing seventh in the heptathlon with 4,340 points,
Jordan Porter placed eighth in the finals of the 60-meter dash (7.03) while freshman
Keaton Wattier was eighth in the 60-meter hurdles finals at 8.38 seconds.
The Wildcat distance medley relay team of
Brandon Mundorf,
Alex Leuenberger, Gabe Peitz and Quinten Dreyer placed fourth in a time of 10:13.98.
