Minnesota Crookston hit five home runs on their way to a 13-2 seven inning victory over Wayne State in the NSIC opening series finale Monday afternoon at Frerichs Legion Field in Elkhorn. The Golden Eagles are 13-8 and 3-0 in the NSIC with WSC dropping to 6-11 and 0-3 in league play.
The Golden Eagles used a steady offense, scoring runs in six of seven innings, to take down the Wildcats in the series finale.
With UMC leading 5-0 entering the bottom of the third, Wayne State scored their two runs of the contest when
Quinn McCafferty singled to left field with two outs and scored on a two-run homer to right field by freshman center fielder
Carter Thomas to cut the Golden Eagle lead to 5-2.
The Golden Eagles then scored one run in the fourth, three in the fifth and two in the sixth and seventh innings to complete the 13-2 win.
Wayne State had four hits in the contest. Thomas was 2 for 3 with a two-run homer and two RBI. McCafferty and
Dylan Jutze each singled.

Nathan Anderson (0-3) suffered the pitching loss in four innings of work.

Nolan Belt each worked in relief for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats will play again Wednesday against Northern State with the NSIC doubleheader being played at Frerichs Legion Field in Elkhorn starting at 10 a.m.
