Sioux City Relays Results
Mckenzie Scheil and
Reilly Young won the hammer throw and discus respectively as the Wayne State women's track and field throwers dominated Friday afternoon and evening at the abbreviated Sioux City Relays held at Roberts Stadium in Sioux City, Iowa. Due to predicted bad weather on Saturday the normal two-day event was shortened to just one day of competition.
Scheil led a group of Wildcat throwers that collected six of the top eight finishes in the hammer throw with a winning mark of 194' 7". Senior
Brooklynn Chipps was second at 193' 10 ¾", senior
Kendra Paasch fifth at 167' 7",
Hailey Baker placed sixth at 165' 9 ¾",
Veronica Guenther seventh at 157' 2 ¾" with
Reilly Young eighth (152' 8 ¼").
Young earned a first place finish in the discus at 154' 2 ½". Paasch was right behind in second at 152' 6 ¾" with freshman
Olivia Schwarzrock sixth at 139' 4".
In running events,
Brooke Solomon took second in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 40:42.80,
Maya Couch was third in the 100-meter dash in 12.51 seconds,
Kelsey Larsen was fourth in the 800-meter run at 2:20.00,
Anna Coffee recorded a fifth place time in 100-meter hurdles (15.58) and
Sarah Cotton came in sixth in the 200-meter dash at 26.18 seconds.
Wayne State's next meet is Friday and Saturday, April 21 and 22, at the South Dakota Challenge in Vermillion.
