USD Early Bird Invite Final Results
Wayne State junior
Dylan Kneifl won the high jump and hit an NCAA provisional qualifying mark Saturday to lead the Wildcat men's outdoor track and field team at the South Dakota Early Bird Invite in Vermillion, South Dakota. The meet attracted nearly 30 schools from NCAA Division I, II and III ranks along with NAIA and junior colleges.
Kneifl, a graduate of Wisner-Pilger High School, cleared 6' 10" to take first place and improve on his NCAA provisional mark that now ranks 10
th in NCAA Division II.
Pierce sophomore
Logan Moeller placed in two events, taking fifth in the long jump at 24' 2 ¼" and seventh in the triple jump at 44' 10 ¾".
Wakefield junior Gabe Peitz took third in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:56.66 while freshman
Keaton Wattier finished fourth in the finals of the 110-meter-high hurdles in 14.64 seconds.
Braden Johnson finished ninth in the long jump with a top mark of 22' 7 1/4",
Daniel Elge was 12
th in the shot put at 51' 3 1/2" while
Grant Fritsch took 12
th in the hammer throw at 172' 4 ¼".
Wayne State will compete next weekend at the Sioux City Relays on Friday and Saturday.
