Freshman
Zoey Holmes had a team-best third-place finish in the 600-meter run for the Wayne State College women's indoor track and field team Friday evening at the season-opening SDSU Holiday Invite held in Brookings, South Dakota at the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex. The meet attracted over 20 teams from NCAA Division I, II and III ranks along with NAIA schools.
Holmes, a graduate of Forest City High School in Iowa, was clocked at 1:39.02 to place third in the 600-meter run while fellow freshman
Kaitlyn Bloomenrader was sixth at 1:41.81.
Freshman Allie Czapla was fifth in the one mile run at 5:45.18 while
Maelee Beacom collected a seventh-place finish with a time of 5:49.71.
Kailee Kellum came in seventh place in the long jump at 16' 11 ¼" with
Sydney Escritt taking eighth in the 3,000-meter run in a time of 11:08.02.
Junior thrower
Olivia Schwarzrock placed in both championship throwing events, taking seventh in the shot put at 44' 3 ½" and eighth in the weight throw at 56' 8".
In the weight throw,
Reilly Young collected a second-place mark of 52' 5 ¼" while freshman
Jalecia Williams took fourth in the shot put at 40' 6 ¼".
The Wildcats resume the 2025 indoor track and field season on Saturday, January 18
th at the Mount Marty Invitational in Yankton, South Dakota.
