Senior throwers
Hailey Baker and
Reilly Young each posted NCAA provisional marks to lead a group of Wayne State athletes that competed Wednesday afternoon at the Maverick Open #1 Meet held in Mankato, Minnesota.
Young unleashed a personal-best mark of 171' 0" to take first place in the discus. The throw was an NCAA provisional mark and now sits at the third-best mark this season in NCAA Division II. Wildcat teammate
Torrance Tso was second in the event with a top toss of 156' 6".
Baker was the top Wildcat finisher in the hammer throw producing a mark of 181' 2" to place second while hitting an NCAA provisional mark.
Olivia Schwarzrock was fourth in the event at 168' 3",
McKenna Markle took seventh (160' 6") and
Jalecia Williams was eighth at 158' 3".
Schwarzrock also had a sixth-place finish in the shot put at 43' 2 ½".
Wayne State competes again this weekend in Vermillion at the South Dakota Tune Up Meet Friday and Saturday.
