#21 WSC dominates Erskine College with school record .625 hitting percentage in sweep

Box Score             The Wayne State College volleyball team set a new single match record for hitting percentage Friday evening with a sizzling .625 to dominate Erskine College of South Carolina 25-10, 25-12, 25-6 at the Thrasher Volleyball Classic in Nashville, Tennessee.  The 21st-ranked Wildcats move to 3-0 on the season while Erskine slips to 0-2.
            Besides performing brilliantly on the offensive end, Wayne State also excelled on the defensive side of the net holding the Fleet to a -.030 hitting percentage as Erskine recorded just 15 kills and 17 errors on 66 attacks in the contest.
            Meanwhile, Wayne State produced 36 kills and just one attack error on 56 attacks for their amazing .625 hitting percentage to eclipse the previous single match hitting record of .575 against NYACK on August 26, 2022 (50 kills, 4 errors and 90 attacks).
            The Wildcats also stood out in serving Friday evening, recording 13 service aces in the win that is tied for the eighth-most service aces in a single match.
            All 15 players saw action for the Wildcats.  Sophomore middle hitter Chloe Hanel had seven kills, hitting a perfect 1.000 in the match.  Freshman outside hitter Delaney Miller added seven kills on eight attacks for a stellar .875 hitting percentage.  Juniors Laney Kathol and Channatee Robles each accounted for six kills in the win.
            Setter Molly Romano was credited with 25 set assists while Mattie Kamery and libero Anna Borner each accounted for seven kills.  Robles had a team-best four service aces with Borner recording three while Hanel and Kamery each had two.
            Wayne State closes out play in the Thrasher Volleyball Classic Saturday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. battling host Trevecca Nazarene in Nashville, Tennessee.
