Kellum, Murphy pick up events wins for WSC women at Mount Marty Invite

            Junior Kailee Kellum and sophomore Reagan Murphy picked up event wins to lead the Wayne State women's indoor track and field team Saturday at the Mount Marty Invitational held in the Ruth Donohue Fieldhouse in Yankton, South Dakota.  The meet attracted schools from Briar Cliff, Dakota State, Dordt, Iowa Central Community College, Morningside, host Mount Marty, Northwestern and Wayne State.
            Kellum picked up the first Wildcat event win taking first-place in the long jump with a top mark of 17' 6" while Murphy crossed the line first in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles in 9.04 seconds.
            Senior thrower Olivia Schwarzrock had a strong showing in a pair of field events, posting the new top mark in the shot put in the NSIC taking second place at 44' 1 ¼" to go with a third-place finish in the weight throw at 53' 4 ¼".  Sophomore Jalecia Williams was also strong in the same events taking third in the shot put (42' 4 ¼") and fourth in the weight throw at 52' 6 ¾". 
            Junior Anna Coffee posted a pair of third-place finishes in the long jump at 16' 9 ¾" along with the 60-meter hurdles in 9.35 seconds. 
            Other third-place finishers included Zoey Holmes in the 400-meter dash (1:01.17).
            Fourth-place finishers were Jayrn Warecjka in the 60-meter hurdles (9.68), Kyla Krusemark in the 1,000-meter run at 3:07.75, Allie Czapla in the one-mile run (5:28.16) and Kaitlyn Bloomenrader in the 400-meter dash (1:03.19). 
            Freshman Rachel Davis was fifth in the 600-meter run at 1:44.54, Taylor Arp took fifth in the weight throw (51' 2 ¼") and Alyssa Folds was fifth in the 60-meter dash finals in 8.12 seconds.
            Sixth-place finishers were Torrance Tso in the shot put at 36' 10 ¼", Meghan Cunningham sixth in the 1,000-meters (3:10.93) with freshman Carly Busch getting sixth in the 60-meter dash (8.75) and 200-meter dash (26.81).  
            Rounding out top-eight finishers were Warecjka eighth in the long jump (17' 7 ½"), Sydney Escritt eighth in the one-mile run at 5:42.29 and Callie Kirchner eighth in the 1,000-meter run at 3:15.36. 
            The distance medley relay quartet of Callie Kirchner, Kyla Krusemark, Meghan Cunningham and Allie Czapla was fourth in a time of 13:15.08 and the 4 x 400-meter relay team of Zoey Holmes, Kaitlyn Bloomenrader, Murphy and Rachel Davis took fifth at 4:12.17.
             Wayne State will compete at home next Saturday hosting the NCAA Showdown on the Ron Holt Track in the Wildcat Dome with field events starting at 12 p.m. and running events at 2 p.m.
