Wayne State junior thrower
Jaxson Ninete hit an NCAA provisional mark with a second-place finish in the weight throw Friday to lead the Wildcat men's indoor track and field team at the South Dakota State Last Chance Invite held in Brookings, South Dakota at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
Ninete had a top mark of 58' 6" in the weight throw to lead four Wildcat finishers in the event.
Alex Altman took fourth (53' 5"),
Joshua Olesen sixth at 51' 8 1/5" and
Matthew Logue seventh at 51' 6 ¼".
In the men's 60-meter dash finals, freshman
Tragon Timm was third in 7.01 seconds,
Luke Klabenes fourth at 7.05 and
Waylon Sherman seventh at 7.26 seconds.
Osman Saeed was third in the 400-meter dash at 48.78 seconds. In the 1,000-meter run,
Akron Jostand was third at 2:39.29, Drew Martin fourth at 2:39.71 and
Gannon Walsh seventh in a time of 2:43.18.
In the men's 600-meter run, senior
Mitchell Rudie took sixth (1:27.31) with
Christopher Thomas seventh at 1:32.41.
Senior
Alex Leuenberger took sixth in the 200-meter dash at 22.20 seconds and freshman
Joe Dewald was fifth in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.88 seconds.
Wayne State will be in Mankato, Minnesota on Friday and Saturday to compete in the Northern Sun Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.
