Wayne State junior thrower
Jaxson Ninete earned All-NSIC honors with a second-place finish in the weight throw to lead the Wildcat men's indoor track and field team Friday at the opening day of the 2026 Northern Sun Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships in Mankato, Minnesota. The Wildcats are fifth in the team standings with 18 points after the first day of competition.
Minnesota State holds the team lead with 41 points followed by Augustana at 27 and MSU Moorhead and Northern State tied for third with 24. Wayne State is fifth at 18 with Sioux Falls and Concordia-St. Paul tied for sixth at 16.
Ninete was one of three Wildcat throwers to earn medals in the weight throw, taking second at 62' 3".
Samuel Zazueta was fourth at 59' 7" and
J'Dyn Bullion came in sixth at 58' 1".
Wayne State's other points Friday came from the distance medley relay team taking seventh in a time of 10:45.87. Runners were
Akron Jostand,
Ethan Walters,
Keaton Bowker and
Matt Richardson.
In Friday's prelims, junior
Osman Saeed was the #3 qualifier for the 400-meter dash finals in 48.84 seconds and sophomore
Mujeeb Adewuyi was the #6 qualifier in the 60-meter hurdle prelims with a time of 8.12 seconds to advance to Saturday's finals.
The second and final day of the NSIC Indoor Championships is Saturday with multi events starting at 9 a.m. followed by field events at 12 p.m. and running event finals at 1:30 p.m.
