Brown collects All-NSIC honors in high jump on final day of NSIC Indoor Championships

            Wayne State junior high jumper Cain Brown collected All-NSIC honors Saturday with a third-place finish in the high jump to lead the Wildcat men's indoor track and field team on the final day of the 2026 Northern Sun Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships held at Myers Fieldhouse in Mankato, Minnesota.  The Wildcats finished eighth out of 12 teams with 37 points.
            Minnesota State captured the men's team title scoring 226.33 points with MSU Moorhead second at 117.  Augustana edged UMary for third 84-82.33 with Sioux Falls fifth at 48 points.  Northern State was sixth at 44 followed by Minnesota Duluth (39), Wayne State (37), Concordia-St. Paul (28) and Southwest Minnesota State (15.33) rounding out the top 10 teams. 
            Brown, a junior transfer from Iowa Western Community College, claimed third-place in the high jump clearing 6' 8 ¼".  Junior sprinter Osman Saeed, another transfer from Iowa Western CC, placed fourth Saturday in the 400-meter dash finals in 48.91 seconds.
            Sophomore Mujeeb Adewuyi had a fifth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles finals in a time of 8.10 seconds while freshman Bryce Larsen had a seventh-place finish in the triple jump with a top mark of 47' 4 ¼". 
            WSC had three medal winners Friday in the weight throw, led by junior Jaxson Ninete earning All-NSIC honors taking second at 62' 3".  Samuel Zazueta was fourth at 59' 7" and J'Dyn Bullion came in sixth at 58' 1".
            Wayne State's other points Friday came from the distance medley relay team taking seventh in a time of 10:45.87.  Runners were Akron Jostand, Ethan Walters, Keaton Bowker and Matt Richardson.
            The final points for the Wildcats came in the 4 x 400-meter relay as Mitchell Rudie, Alex Leuenberger, Austin Madsen and Saeed finished seventh in a time of 3:22.69.
