Wayne State men's track & field team were led by three event wins from junior
Jaxson Ninete in the weight throw, junior
Devon Schultz in pole vault, and sophomore
Mujeeb Adewuyi in the 60-meter hurdles at the Wildcat Invite held on Dr. Ron Holt Track in the Wildcat Dome in Wayne Friday afternoon and evening.
Ninete set another NCAA provisional qualifying mark with his new personal best throw of 61' 1½" in the weight throw.
J'Dyn Bullion and
Jake Peitz finished in second and third in the event.
Alex Altman took fifth and
Joshua Olesen was the eighth-place finisher.
Schutz cleared 14' 11" on his first attempt and was able to take the top spot outjumping second place by over six inches.
Elliott Nottlemann placed third in the high jump as he cleared 6' 5½" to set a new personal best.
Adewuyi paced the field with his time of 8.31 in the 60-meter hurdles final.
Joe Dewald finished 11
th in the same event.
Bryce Larsen collected a second-place finish in the long jump with his leap of 22' 10" with Nottlemann coming in third with a jump of 22' 2½".
Alex Leuenberger crossed the finish line fourth in the 200-meter dash and
Osman Saeed crossed two spots back to take sixth in the event.
William Keller and
Brady Franzen set new personal bests and the two finished third and seventh respectively. Keller crossed with a time of 8:51.92.
Wayne State will compete next Friday and Saturday at the South Dakota State Classic in Brookings, South Dakota and some athletes will compete Saturday at the Concordia Invite in Seward.
