Wayne State had three event wins and one NCAA provisional mark competing Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Mount Marty Twilight Invitational men's track and field meet in Yankton.
Sophomore thrower
Samuel Zazueta posted a first-place finish with an NCAA provisional mark in the hammer throw at 197' 4" while also placing fourth in the discus at 163' 3".
Other event wins for the Wildcats came from
Elliott Nottlemann in the high jump clearing 6' 4 ¾" while freshman
Bryce Faimon had a first-place finish in the long jump with a top mark of 22' 8" to go with a third-place mark in the high jump at 6' 2 ¾".
In the 400-meter dash, freshman
Henry Hushka was third at 51.05 seconds while
Matthew Logue was third in the hammer throw at 178' 8".
Fourth-place finishers went to
William Keller in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:38.03) and
Jake Peitz in the hammer throw with a mark of 178' 0".
Jacob Greving was fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:43.11) while sixth-place finishers were recorded by
Joshua Olesen in the hammer throw at 167' 4" and
Nate Decker in the long jump at 20' 3".
The rest of the Wayne State men's team will compete Friday and Saturday at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.
