Moeller shines in first collegiate meet for Wildcat men with pair of top five finishes at SDSU Holiday Inviational

SDSU Holiday Invite Final Results

            Pierce freshman Logan Moeller had an impressive collegiate debut for the Wayne State College men's indoor track and field team Friday evening at the SDSU Holiday Invitational in Brookings, South Dakota posting a pair of top five finishes in the long jump and triple jump.  The 2021-22 opener for indoor track and field attracted 17 teams from NCAA Division I and II and NAIA schools featuring over 500 athletes at the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
            Moeller started with a third place finish in the long jump at 22' 1" and followed that with a fourth place effort in the triple jump with a top mark of 45' 1". 
            Wisner-Pilger sophomore Dylan Kneifl and placed in a pair of events to open the season, tied for fourth in the high jump clearing 6' 6 ¾" while collecting a seventh place finish in the long jump at 20' 9 ½".
            Three other Wildcats also placed in the high jump as freshman Alex Brandt tied for sixth clearing 6' 4 ¾", freshman Julien Hearn tied for eighth at 6' 2 ¾" and Aaron English also tied for eighth clearing 6' 2 ¾". 
            In the 3,000-meter run, WSC had four runners in the top 10 led by sophomore Brandon Mundorf in sixth place with a time of 9:07.35 while senior Brock Hegarty was right behind in seventh at 9:07.92.  Freshman Isaac Richards was ninth in 9:45.09 followed by Abe Schroeder in 10th place at 9:46.65.
            The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Jackson McIntyre, Jacob Ladage, Theo Huber and Noah Carr posted a seventh place finish with a time of 3:28.06. 
            The 2022 indoor track and field season resumes for Wayne State on Saturday, January 15th at the Mount Marty Opener in Yankton, South Dakota.
