Mckenzie Scheil hit an NCAA provisional mark in the shot put to lead a strong day for the throwers as the Wayne State women's outdoor track and field team competed at the South Dakota Twilight Meet in Vermillion.
Scheil took second in the shot put with a season-best and NCAA provisional mark of 47' 5 ¾", which is now fourth-best in the NSIC and tied for 13th in NCAA Division II. She also placed fourth in the hammer throw at 184' 2 ¼".
Reilly Young finished third in the discus with a throw of 148' ¾" with
Kendra Paasch fourth at 146' 10".
Brooklynn Chipps took third in the hammer throw (189' 10 ½") and was eighth in the shot put at 44' 8 ¼".
Paasch added a seventh place finish in the shot put at 45' 5 ¾", freshman
Kenzie Moeller took eighth in the long jump with a leap of 17' 8 ¼" and
Jadin Wagner was ninth in the hammer throw with a toss of 173' 4 ¾".
Sprinter
Sarah Cotton took eighth in the 200-meter dash (25.40) and was 10th in the 100-meter dash in 12.50 seconds.
Megan Hansen was seventh in the 100-meter hurdles at 15.15 seconds.
The 4 x 100 meter relay quartet of
Megan Hansen,
Sarah Cotton,
Emily Erickson and
Maya Couch claimed third place with a time of 49.41 seconds.
Wayne State will compete at the 2022 Northern Sun Conference Championships in Aberdeen, South Dakota Thursday May 12 through Saturday, May 14.
