Chipps hits NCAA provisional mark in weight throw at South Dakota Kickoff

South Dakota Kickoff Final Results

            Senior thrower Brooklynn Chipps recorded an NCAA provisional mark in the weight throw to lead the Wayne State women's track and field team Saturday at the South Dakota Kickoff held in the Dakota Dome at Vermillion, South Dakota.
            Chipps, a senior from Clearwater HS, placed fourth in the weight throw with a season-best and NCAA provisional mark of 62' 8 ¾" while also finishing fifth in the shot put with a top mark of 42' 2".
            Wayne State's lone event win came from Lindsey Stuckey in the 3,000-meter run, crossing the line first in a time of 11:14.79.  Teammates Maelee Beacom placed third (12:31.98) and Madeline Kunz was fourth at 12:40.64.
            In the 60-meter hurdle finals, Megan Hansen took third in 9.43 seconds with Anna Coffee next in fourth at 9.47.
            The 200-meter dash saw Sarah Cotton place third in 26.37 seconds, Maya Couch was fourth (27.14), Elizabeth Mayer fifth (28.12) and Hansen sixth in 28.57 seconds.
            In the 60-meter dash finals, Couch was fifth at 8.05 seconds with Cotton sixth in 8.14 seconds.
            Freshman Jozlyn Barnes came in fourth place in the 600-meter run at 1:53.76, Kelsey Larsen was fourth in the one mile run with a time of 5:29.56 and Kylie Pachta placed seventh at 5:40.11.
            In the high jump, Anna Coffee claimed third place clearing 5' 1 ¾".
            Kendra Paasch posted a fourth place finish in the shot put at 42' 6" with Ponca sophomore Brooke Languis sixth at 41' 8 ¾".
            The triple jump saw Keyla Sambo take third at 35' 10", Emily Smollen was fifth at 34' 6 ¼" and Lindsey Kneifl came in sixth at 33' 11 ¼" while Smollen was sixth in the long jump (16' 9 ¼") and Kneifl took eighth (16' 4 ½").
            Reilly Young finished eighth in the weight throw at 51' 8 ½".
            Wayne State competes again next Saturday in Seward at the Polar Dog Invite hosted by Concordia University.
