Final Results 2023 NSIC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships
The Wayne State College women's track and field team scored 43 points and finished in sixth place at the 2023 Northern Sun Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships that concluded in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Wildcats finished with one NSIC individual champion and one other athlete that earned All-NSIC honors.
Minnesota State easily captured the team title with 272.4 points with Augustana a distant second at 95 points. Winona State (82), University of Mary (72.2) and Sioux Falls (61) closed out the top five teams. Wayne State was sixth with 43 points followed by Minnesota Duluth (40.2), Northern State (38.5), Concordia-St. Paul (33) and MSU Moorhead (25.2) closing out the top 10 teams.
Wayne State's individual champion was
Mckenzie Scheil, who won a third straight hammer throw title with a top mark of 192' 4" on Friday. Senior
Brooklynn Chipps was right behind in second and collected All-NSIC honors at 184' 4".
The top finisher for the Wildcats on Saturday was freshman
Anna Coffee, who was seventh in the javelin throw with a top mark of 113' 9" to go with a sixth place finish Friday in the heptathlon at 4,440 points.
Other medal winners Saturday included
Keyla Sambo taking eighth in the triple jump (36' 5") while the 4 x 100-meter relay team of
Megan Hansen,
Maya Couch,
Sarah Cotton and
Elizabeth Mayer came in eighth place with a time of 48.52 seconds.
The Wildcats also had three medal winners in the shot put, led by Chipps taking fifth with a top throw of 44' 4". Senior
Kendra Paasch followed in sixth at 44' 3 ¼" and Scheil placed seventh at 44' 2 ¾".
Veronica Guenther was fifth in the hammer throw at 164' 0" while Paasch was sixth at 163' 11".
Other points scored by the Wildcats Friday came from
Lindsey Stuckey in the 10,000-meter run, placing seventh in a time of 38:58.97.
