The Wayne State College women's track and field team opened the 2025 outdoor season Friday afternoon competing in hot, windy conditions at the 17
th annual Wildcat Outdoor Classic at LeRoy Simpson/Bob Cunningham Field. Teams competing at the meet included Minnesota State and Sioux Falls from the NSIC along with NAIA schools Briar Cliff, Dakota State, Dakota Wesleyan, Dordt, Morningside and Northwestern along with Southeast Community College.
Event wins for the Wildcats were recorded by freshman
Reagan Murphy in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.94 seconds and by freshman
Kaitlyn Bloomenrader in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:30.24. Murphy also had a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:07.21 seconds.
Senior thrower
Reilly Young also scored a first-place finish winning the discus at 160' 4" while placing fourth in the hammer throw at 168' 2".
Second place finishes came from junior
Lindsey Kneifl in the triple jump (36' 2") and
Kailee Kellum in the long jump at 18' 2 ½".
Freshman
Zoey Holmes had a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash at 1:00.30 and
Hailey Baker was third in the hammer throw at 169' 1".
Wayne sophomore
Brooklyn Kruse was fourth in the shot put (42' 3 1/2") and took eighth in the discus at 142' 7".
Freshman
Alyssa Folds was fifth in the 100-meter dash (12.70),
Lindsey Kneifl was fifth in the long jump with a leap of 17' 8",
Kailee Kellum took sixth in the triple jump (34' 0") and
Olivia Schwarzrock came in seventh in the hammer throw at 163' 4".
In the 1,500-meter run,
Callie Kirchner ended sixth at 5:16.06, Allie Czapla was seventh (5:16.76) and
Sydney Escritt eighth in a time of 5:17.76.
Freshman Jaryn Warecjka was sixth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.82) with
Olivia Williams eighth (16.41).
Wayne State competes at the Concordia Invite in Seward next Friday and Saturday (April 4 and 5).
