Senior thrower
Reilly Young posted an NSIC-leading and NCAA provisional mark of 166' 6" to win the discus highlighting four event wins by the Wayne State women's outdoor track and field team Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Mount Marty Twilight Meet held in Yankton.
Young's winning toss of 166' 6" in the discus now ranks as the sixth-best throw in NCAA Division II this season.
Other event wins by the Wildcats came from
Kailee Kellum in the long jump at 18' 3 ¼",
Lindsey Kneifl in the triple jump at 35' 4 ½" and Allie Czapla in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a winning time of 11:50.36.
Senior
Hailey Baker had a second-place finish in the hammer throw at 175' 8" with
McKenna Markle sixth (163' 9") and
Olivia Schwarzrock eighth at 163' 0". Schwarzrock also had a fifth-place finish in the shot put at 42' ¾" while freshman
McKinley Grover was eighth I the discus at 135' 11".
In running events, freshman
Kaitlyn Bloomenrader was third in the 800-meter run at 2:21.48,
Reagan Murphy had a third-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.76 seconds and
Zoey Holmes was fifth in the 400-meter dash at 1:00.04.
Callie Kirchner took sixth in the 1,500-meter run (4:53.96) and Kellum was seventh in the high jump clearing 5' 1 ¼".
Wayne State will have several athletes compete at the Drake Relays in Des Moines this weekend as the 4 x 100 meter relay team runs Friday morning while several throwers will also compete on Friday and Saturday.
