Hailey Baker and
Brooklyn Kruse each posted second-place finishes in throwing events Saturday for the Wayne State women's track and field team at the Concordia Invite in Seward. WSC teams were split this weekend as middle distance and distance runners competed Friday at the USD Early Bird Meet in Vermillion.
Baker led five Wildcat throwers in the top eight in the hammer throw taking second at 158' 3".
Reilly Young was third (156' 7"),
McKenna Markle fourth at 150' 0",
Taylor Arp was sixth (148' 11") and
McKinley Grover placed eighth at 138' 11".
In the shot put, Kruse recorded a second-place mark of 45' 7 ¾" with freshman
Jalecia Williams fifth (41' 3"), Baker sixth at 38' 6 ¾" and
Torrance Tso seventh (37' 6 ¾"). Tso also had a seventh-place mark in the discus at 133' 8".
Freshman
Reagan Murphy had the best finish for the Wildcats at Friday's USD Early Bird Meet finishing eighth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:05.56.
Wayne State will be at the Sioux City Relays Friday and at the South Dakota Invite in Vermillion next Saturday.
