Allie Czapla placed 50
th overall out of 319 runners to lead the Wayne State College women's cross country team to a 16
th place finish Friday evening at the season-opening Augustana Twilight Invitational held at Yankton Trails Park in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Division I South Dakota State captured the team title with 20 points followed by Minnesota State (75), Augustana (108) and Minnesota Crookston (210) from the NSIC with Gustavus Adolphus fifth in the 26-team field at 218 points. Wayne State's team score was 428.
Czapla covered the 5,000-meter course in a time of 18:53.29 to lead nine Wildcat runners in the event, placing 50
th overall. Sophomore
Kaitlyn Bloomenrader was the next WSC finisher with a time of 19:41.63 to take 109
th overall.

Sydney Escritt followed in 122
nd place at 19:56.47 with junior
Callie Kirchner crossing the line in 150
th at 20:14.03.
