Junior sprinter
Osman Saeed set a new school record in the 300-meter dash and
Jaxson Ninete hit an NCAA provisional mark in the weight throw to lead the Wayne State men indoor track and field team Saturday at the Mark Schuck Open held in Mankato, Minnesota and hosted by Minnesota State.
Saeed set a new school record in the 300-meter dash, taking fourth with a time of 35.30 seconds to surpass the previous school mark of teammate
Alex Leuenberger (35.42 in 2022) who took eighth in the event at 36.01 seconds.
In the weight throw, WSC had three of the top six finishers as
Jaxson Ninete took third with a top mark of 60' 3 ¾", an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
Samuel Zazueta was fifth at 58' 8" and
J'Dyn Bullion came in sixth at 57' 1".
Junior
Cain Brown collected a fifth-place finish in the high jump clearing 6' 6 ¾" and freshman
Bryce Larsen was fifth in the triple jump at 47' 1 ½".
The distance medley relay team of
Matt Richardson,
Austin Madsen,
Keaton Bowker and
Lucas Frazier finished sixth with a time of 10:54.43 while the 4 x 400-meter relay team of Saeed, Leuenberger,
Mitchell Rudie and
Henry Hushka also placed sixth in 3:24.52.
Wayne State will host the Wildcat Invite on Friday on Dr. Ron Holt Track in the Wildcat Dome with field events starting at 1 p.m. and running events at 3 p.m.
