Ninete scores hammer throw win with NCAA mark at Sioux City Relays - Larsen wins triple jump

            Junior thrower Jaxson Ninete won the hammer throw with an NCAA provisional mark while freshman Bryce Larsen also scored an event win in the triple jump to pace the Wayne State men's track and field team Friday and Saturday at the Sioux City Relays.
            Ninete led a charge of Wildcat throwers that saw six of the top eight finishers were a WSC uniform.  His winning mark of 198' 11" was an NCAA provisional mark.  Sam Zazueta was third at 185' 8", Jake Peitz fourth (178' 3"), Alex Altman sixth (174' 7"), J'Dyn Bullion seventh at 161' 9" and Joshua Olesen eighth with a mark of 160' 3".
            Larsen scored a first-place finish in the triple jump with a top leap of 45' 10 ¾".
            Bullion also posted an NCAA provisional mark with a second-place finish in the discus throwing 172' 11".  Ninete was fifth at 161' 7" and Zazueta sixth with a throw of 157' 8".
            In the high jump, Elliott Nottlemann took third clearing 6' 4" while Bryce Faimon was seventh at 6' 0".
            Freshman Joe Dewald placed fifth in the 400-meter hurdles at 55.69 seconds with Mujeeb Adewuyi taking sixth in 55.94 seconds.
            Osman Saeed took seventh in the 400-meter dash in 49.66 seconds, Alex Leuenberger was eighth in the 200-meter dash (21.93), Matt Richardson eighth in the 1,500-meter run (4:10.18) and Akron Jostand eighth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 10:39.24.
            Wayne State's next meet is Saturday when the Wildcats travel to Kearney for the Loper Invite.
