Wayne State men's outdoor track and field posted three event wins Wednesday afternoon and evening at the South Dakota Snooze Invite held in Vermillion at the Lillibridge Track Complex. The meet attracted Division I teams from host South Dakota and South Dakota State along with Division II schools from Augustana, Northern State and Wayne State and NAIA teams competing included Dakota State, Dordt, Mt. Marty and Northwestern College.
The first event win came from
Jaxson Ninete in the hammer throw posting a top mark of 186' 11".
Samuel Zazueta was second at 184' 10" with
Jake Peitz sixth throwing 167' 3".
Sophomore
Mujeeb Adewuyi crossed the finish line first in the 400-meter hurdles at 55.02 seconds and was third in the 110 high hurdles with a time of 14.59 seconds.
Sophomore sprinter
Mitchell Hupp recorded the other event win taking first-place in the 200-meter dash at 21.95 seconds.
Second-place finishers included
Luke Klabenes in the 200-meter dash (22.00) and freshman
Lucas Frazier in the 5,000-meter run at 15:31.56.
Freshman
Braylon Chism took third-place in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 56.06 seconds and was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.04 seconds.
In the long jump, freshman
Bryce Larsen placed fourth (23' 9 ½") followed by
Bryce Faimon in fifth at 22' 5" and
Elliott Nottlemann sixth with a mark of 22' ¾".
Joe Dewald was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (56'11),
Jacob Greving took fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:45.54),
J'Dyn Bullion placed fifth in the discus at 157' 11" and
Matthew Logue was sixth in the javelin (145' 7").
The 4 x 400-meter relay team of
Osman Saeed,
Alex Leuenberger,
Austin Madsen and
Henry Hushka took third place with a season-best time of 3:18.94.
Wayne State competes on Friday and Saturday at the Sioux City Relays.
