NCAA Pre-Regional Women's Final Results
Megan Zavorka and Ky'Lee Engelken earned top 10 finishes to help the Wayne State women's cross country team to a tie for second place at the NCAA Pre-Regional Cross Country Meet held in Wayne on Friday. The meet was originally scheduled for Saturday but was moved up one day due to predicted cold, windy and snowy weather.
The University of Mary easily captured the team title with 24 points followed by Wayne State and Augustana tied for second with 57 points. Northern State was fourth with 102 points while MSU Moorhead did not field enough runners for a team score.
Zavorka was Wayne State's top finisher taking fourth out of 35 runners on the 6,000 meter course with a time of 22:52. Engleken was next for the Wildcats in eighth place overall at 23:14 followed by senior Sarah Thomsen in 13th place with a time of 23:41. Other WSC finishers included Meghan Jacob in 19th place at 24:01, Molly Gibson 20th at 24:17, Melissa McIntosh was 27th at 25:06, Jenna McCoy took 32nd at 26:07 and Tatiana DeLosSantos was 34th in a time of 27:00.
Wayne State will next be in action on Saturday, October 24th when the Wildcats compete in the Northern Sun Conference Championships in Bemidji, Minnesota.
