Emporia State Midwest Classic Final Results
Brooklynn Chipps and
Emily Smollen picked up event wins while leading the Wayne State College women's track and field team to a fourth-place finish Sunday at the Midwest Classic hosted by Emporia State in Kansas.
Fort Hays State captured the team title with 137 points followed by Emporia State (96.5), Missouri Western (82), Wayne State (74) and Northwest Missouri State (65) in the top five out of 18 teams competing.
Chipps posted a first place finish in the hammer throw with a top mark of 195' 9" while also taking sixth in the shot put (42' 4 ¼").
Smollen collected a first place finish in the triple jump at 36' 2 ¾" and was fifth in the long jump with a leap of 17' 2".
Senior
Kendra Paasch placed in three events – third in the discus (143' 11"), fifth in the shot put (43' 2 ¼") and eighth in the hammer throw (157' 11").
Lindsey Stuckey posted a second place finish in the 10,000-meter run in a time of 38:49.21,
Mckenzie Scheil came in third in the shot put (43' 5 ¾") and
Reilly Young was fourth in the discus at 142' 11".
Other top finishers for the Wildcats included
Hailey Baker sixth in the hammer throw (167' 2"),
Lindsey Kneifl sixth in the triple jump at 34' 7",
Sarah Cotton was seventh in the 100-meter dash in 12.56 seconds and
Megan Hansen eighth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.36).
The Wayne State 4 x 100 meter relay team of Hansen,
Maya Couch, Cotton and Elizabeth Meyer took fifth in 48.74 seconds while the 4 x 400 meter quartet of
Kelsey Larsen,
Kylie Pachta, Cotton and
Alison Stineman also placed fifth with a time of 4:12.47.
Wayne State will compete again on Wednesday at the Mount Marty Invite in Yankton.
