Four event wins for WSC women at Wildcat Opener

            The Wayne State College women's indoor track and field team posted four event wins Friday at the WSC Wildcat Opener indoor track and field meet held at Dr. Ron Holt Track in the Wildcat Dome.  The meet attracted teams from Briar Cliff, College of St. Mary, Morningside, Mount Marty, Northwestern, Sioux Falls and Wayne State.
            Sophomore Zoey Holmes picked up the first event win crossing the tape first in the 600-meter run at 1:37.80.  Sophomore Reagan Murphy was a winner taking first in the 60-meter hurdles finals in 8.99 seconds.
            In the field events, senior Olivia Schwarzrock captured first in the weight throw with an NCAA provisional mark of 58' ½" to go with a second-place finish in the shot put at 43' 9 ¼".  Sophomore Jalecia Williams recorded the final event win for the Wildcats taking first in the shot put with a top mark of 43' 11 ¼".
            Second-place finishers were Kaitlyn Bloomenrader in the 600-meter run (1:38.05), freshman Kyla Krusemark in the 800-meter run (2:23.73) and the 4 x 400-meter relay team of Murphy, Bloomenrader, Alyssa Folds and Holmes with a time of 4:05.91.
            In throwing events, sophomore Taylor Arp was third in the weight throw at 51' ¼" with Williams fifth (49' 6 ¼") and McKinley Grover sixth at 45' 5".  Anna Coffee added a sixth-place finish in the shot put at 38' ¾".
            In field events, senior Lindsey Kneifl was a third-place finisher in the triple jump at 36' 2 ¼" and Ava Leinen took fourth in the long jump (17' 8 ¼").  The high jump saw junior Jerika Bakenhus finish third at 5' 3 ¼", Coffee took fourth clearing 5' 1 ¼" and Ella Van Dyke was fifth at 5' 1 ¼". 
            The sprint events saw freshman JoLie Farr place fourth in the 60-meter dash (7.84) and sixth in the 200-meters (26.63), freshman Carly Busch came in third in the 200-meter dash (26.27) while Alyssa Folds was fourth in the 200-meters (26.34) and fifth in the 60-meter dash (7.91).
            In the 60-meter hurdles, freshman Breylee Botts took third (9.15) with Sara Yamagami eighth (9.48).
            The middle distance events saw junior Callie Kirchner capture third in the 800-meter run (2:24.11) with Meghan Cunningham right behind in fourth at 2:24.53.  The one-mile run saw Sydney Escritt finish third (5:30.86), Allie Czapla fourth at 5:31.06, Maelee Beacom seventh at 5:50.44 and Madi McKie eighth in 5:57.15. 
             Wayne State resumes the indoor track and field season on Saturday, January 17th competing in Yankton at the Mount Marty Invite.
